Prospect Write-Up Maverick Lamoureux.

The prospect write-up is something I'm going to do to highlight a prospect that a majority of people haven't heard of and give some insights on their game and possible fantasy or real life impact. Today we will be discussing Maverick Lamoureux. Maverick was drafted 29th to the the Arizona Coyotes. Maverick looks like he's going to outperform his draft position. Maverick stands at a shopping 6'7 210+ lbs at age 20. It's hard to evaluate players who are so much larger than their peers at a younger age, Maverick has been 190+ lbs since 18 years old. Maverick has grown into his body though most but lumbering players and have issues skating, Maverick on the other hand has silky smooth strides and uses angles and proper positioning to not get out of position by faster smaller players. He also has a mind for offense and isn't necessarily a pp1 specialist at the NHL level, but he's a service smart player who won't cost a team in either zone. He's not a stereotypical stay at home defenseman despite his size. Part of fantasy is also the depth chart, and there are not many right handed players in Utah's prospect pool. Either are there any players with his particular style on defense. Maverick played very well for team Canada against talent his skill level as well slowly earning more minutes as the tournament went on. Maverick most likely will play in the AHL this next year and we will get some real insight on his upside. I currently have his floor at Travis Myers and his ceiling is Mackenzie Weegar (but slower).
